Qatar students win 7 medals at science competition

Doha: Students from Qatar won six gold medals and one silver at the International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX) 2022 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Qatari research teams participated remotely in this exhibition in line with the precautionary measures, and keenness on the safety of students and their supervisors.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education congratulated the winning students and participants for their achievements in the aforementioned international exhibition.

Meanwhile, Rima Abu Khadija, Director of Curriculum and Learning Resources Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and Dr. Asmaa Al Mohannadi, Head of Scientific Research Section at the Department, valued the efforts of all participating students and their supervisors and those concerned with the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) in terms of their preparation and training for such competitions, their innovative capabilities, and the ministry’s keenness to refine them with science and training, which resulted in their winning in the most important regional and international competitions.

For their part, Dr. Hisham Mohieldin Saber, Acting Executive Director of the Qatar National Research Fund; Dr. Aisha Al Obaidly, Capacity Building Director; and Dr. Abdullah Al Kamali, Director of Educational Programs at the Fund, praised this great achievement, which was the fruit of long and continuous effort, training, cooperation and coordination with the scientific research team at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

They stressed the importance of this victory, and the competition's role in placing Qatar on the global map of innovation, and providing the opportunity for young talented students to pursue their scientific effort and build their skills.

Maryam Dakhlallah Salem Al Arjani, the winning scientific research supervisor at Al Khor Preparatory School for Girls, expressed her pride in participating and winning a silver medal.

ITEX 2022 is one of the largest scientific competitions. It is an international platform for inventions and innovations, organised by the Malaysian Society for Invention and Design (MINDS and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). 

It includes more than a thousand inventions, and attracts more than 13,000 visitors from 56 countries, and through it, inventors and investors meet in the presence of manufacturers and entrepreneurs interested in innovation.

Qatar participated once in (ITEX) in 2018 with six teams, and won five gold medals and  one silver, in addition to the shield of second place at the level of the competition.
