Remnants of foreign forces in Syria must leave “as soon as possible so the Syrian people can begin rebuilding their country,” Iran’s newly elected President Ebrahim Raisi demanded yesterday.

“The Syrian government and people have valiantly withstood the Zionist and Western terrorism and achieved victory,” Raisi said in a meeting with the Syrian Parliament Speaker, Hammouda Sabbagh, in the Iranian capital Tehran.

Stressing on the importance of developing political and economic ties between the two countries, Raisi noted that his government would continue cooperating with Syria on various levels “with no restrictions.”

“The remnants of foreign forces must be removed from Syrian territory as soon as possible so that the people of this country can start the reconstruction process,” the Iranian leader reiterated.

Sabbagh hailed Iran’s “continuous support” for Syria. “The Syrian people and government will never forget the Iranian people’s support,” he said.
