ABU DHABI, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- An official of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) said the upcoming visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Abu Dhabi reflects the strong strategic partnership between the two nations and will pave the way for further cooperation in several vital sectors.

"Russian oil and gas companies showed interest in investing in the UAE market, as they play an important role in exporting Russian expertise in the field," UAE Minister of Energy and Industry Suhail Mohammed Al Mazroui said in statements to the official news agency WAM on Monday.

He also said so far the Abu Dhabi-based oil company Mubadala Petroleum's investment in the Russian oil sector has exceeded 300 million U.S. dollars.

"The company, in cooperation with the Russian Fund for Direct Investment, has established a joint venture with Russia's Gazprom to develop a number of oil fields in the Tomsk and Omsk regions in Western Siberia," said the UAE minister.
